If that motor is a carb version, the check engine light means there is a vacuum in the fuel line at the motor. If you pump the primer bulb, it should turn off. If you get the alarm steady, you have a restriction (clogged filter, or vent) in your fuel system

It means look behind you to see if it's on fire. You are supposed to do that once in a while.
