I would like to update my boat to the new small cylinder removable kind but I can't get the screws or bolts out, got them loose but not out. The cylinders for the old style are outrages in price. I don't want to tare up my step up bow decking and rear bilge door trying to get these things loose. I thought about drilling the heads of the bolts off and grinding the studs down flush.

The pedestals are held down using bolts and nuts. Your gonna have to get to the nut to remove it. Both my boats are the same.

Or you can drill thru the head like you said. Then let the rest drop down to the bilge.

If it were me, I would some how get to the nut.

Good luck!!!!!!!

Got them off finally

Got them off finally

I removed them today with the help from my father and it still was a pain after being in positions I haven't been in in a long time lol :D. I was originally told by a family member (whom deals in pontoon boat upholstery and rebuilding), that the pedestals were anchored by wood screws, he was wrong in this case.
