140HP VRO what year/options

I was wondering how to decode the motor I have on a new(old) boat hat I have. When we have the year and options I was wondering what parts I should be looking out for and what the history is with this motor as far a reliability.......perhaps it would have been better to ask this before I bought the boat? thanks for any help !

That's a 1985, killer. The early VRO oil injector systems (that is one) were not very reliable and most have been disconnected in favor of premixing.

Check the Engine FAQs for discussions of keeping/disconnecting early VRO systems.
