hi.... just bought this motor off a guy and checking throttle and changing gear controls. will not push far enough to put in gear forward missing like a inch,and throttle full only goes to 3/4 . i took it all apart and changed center and bushings still same afect ..only thing i could think of controls come from a 20hp and mines a 40hp .....my question is are they the same and if so what could be my prob.
You're not perhaps throttling in "throttle-only" mode? That's when the gear case is actually disengaged so you can get high idle. The throttle then only goes to about 3/4, and the gear case won't engage at all.
i just tryed no hookup and full gear push ,goes all the way ..took off lowerunit and rubber shifter is messed up in hidle middle ,so its harder to push up hill .your words gave me a light bulb ..thanks man.
