I am looking to replace the 1970 evinrude with a 92 88 spl only problem is I dont have a carb for the 88 (long story) Im trying to find one online but cant seem to. I was wondering if the carb on the 70 would work with a mechs help. Any thoughts or help.. thanx in advance

Welcome to iboats. lets get you started right. don't put help in your title, everyone here needs help. put part of the problem in the title.

no the 70 carb won't work. the 88 has a primer instead of a choke, the linkage is not the same. the correct carb is part# 433881, and you are going to need the linkage between them.

you can view complete engine diagrams and part list at this site:
"http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/Accessories/Literature/" parts are probably going to be a dealer item to get all that you need.

Late model carbs are easy to come by. Try Jack at Superior Marine (800-338-9281), nice folks.
