I have a 2007 maxum SR31800 with a 4.3 liter merc with 7 hrs on it.
Today I was out boating and came up behind slower boat, we were in a narrow channel so I slowed down because there were on coming boats.
after these boats went by I pulled out to pass the boat I was behind as I started to get on the throttle I fell a thump... I thought that I hit something
we were in 4.7 feet of water. I backed off the throttle and dropped back in behind the boat I was passing I thought I hit a rock and damaged my prop because there was a vibration as I applied the throttle and the RPMs went over 1000. But when I pulled the boat out of the water I found no damage to the prop. Any ideas.

Wood. Trees, limbs, and lumber are in the water all the time. In the process of rotting and getting waterlogged enough to sink to the bottom, it floats anywhere from just below the surface to just above the bottom. It frequently does damage without making obvious visual signs like hitting a rock would.
