My engine is in the process of being rebuilt and the exhaust manifolds are fairly new and appear to still be in pretty good shade. I understand one can clean (I believe the term is boil) them. Can anyone tell me what the proper method is? I was told to let them sit in Nitric Acid...

Are these cast iron manifolds? If so, you could take them to your nearest auto engine machine shop and have them hot tanked.

Muratic acid will clean them. Be careful.
