black max 135 issues

hi new here,

just bought a boat with a black max 135 and im having issues with the motor...

the trim/tilt doesn't work all that well.....the first set of pistons that trim the motor work fine but once it goes into the higher range of raising the motor it doesn't work at all...i have to physically hold the trim/tilt button in the up position and lift the motor until i lock it in place....it has fluid in it....im thinking that it is just that piston part?....im not sure what it could be....im new to boating and im not really familiar with outboards....

Most probably you are correct, the tilt piston seal is leaking badly.

If it were the check valve it would bleed down even when on the trim.

there is no leaking though, no signs of it atleast...could it be an electrical problem with the solenoid or something....because it you have to push the tilt button so you can manually lift it up?

im thinking it is the piston part though...i have a friend who had a similar problem on a 60hp black max and it was a matter of replacing the seals....

i guess i can just buy the repair manual and do it myself?
