My 95 Merc 3.0LX I/O stalls at very low rpms. It runs great at anything above 1000rpms. I've changed the plugs, wires, cleaned the flame arrestor, even cleaned the filter going into the carb. It also sometimes stalls when shifting from nuetral to reverse (again low rpms). Not very condusive for trolling as anything above 1000 rpms is way to fast... Not to much give either in the cable, seems like I have two choices, 600 RMPs = stalls, or anything above 1000 = too fast for trolling - Can't seem to throttle up to 700, 800 rpms, etc Just jumps from 600 to over 1000. Any ideas?

I had that. Well in some way. I had my carb full rebuild ($250) and adjusted, and now works good.

No, it's not a new occurance, It's been doing this all year, I'm just tired of it stalling on me.. It's done this ever since I've owned the boat.

You have to remove the cable and make all the adjustments with the boat in the water and fully warmed up

When it is at the correct speed in the water it will idle and easy 300 RPM higher on land

Small things like the adjustment barrel on the cable being set so it allways pulls the butterflys to the idle speed stop screw make a big differance ;)
