So I was on the boat this weekend crusing around on the coastal atlantic and I noticed that the boat woudl feel like it would pull back occasionally for lack of a better way to put it. When we docked and pulled the boat onto the trailer I took a look at the prop and tryed pulling on it. It feels like it has play as it will go back and forth ever so slightly. Is this a problem and if so how can i fix it so it dosent feel like the boat is tugging on itself sometimes?

Is the prop torqued to proper spec? If so Im not sure which way you're saying you have play, but your hub may be spun. Draw a line across the hub and prop, or use ur cotter pin as a center line, run the motor until you feel it "slip" then pull it out, if the lines are no longer lined up, you spun your hub and need to get it repacked or buy a new prop, depending on the condition of your prop and the amount of money you want to spend.

So in messing around with the prop i found I can still tighten the nut, could this be the problem? How tight is it supposed to be? And are there any dangers to not having the proper tool for this.

Well I guess I dont fully understand the proper way to check and see if the prop is spun. Anyone have any pictures of the whole process?
