I'd like to find out the age of a motor just purchased. It is a model Fastwin with serial number 18402D-E09020. Iwould then like to know the proper fuel/oil mixture and what type oil to use as well as find a service and/or parts manual for this motor. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: age of evinrude fastwin

it is a 1964 18hp. prior to 64 they recommends 24-1. 64 and above 50-1, that is 6 gallons gas to 1 pint tcw3 outboard oil, walmart oil is fine. the reprints of the original manuals are available at outboardbooks.com the motor has points, coils, condensers under the flywheel. a harmonic balancer puller and three 14 x 20 #8 harden bolts are required to pull the flywheel. if it looks like this under it, the coils are shot.

Welcome to iboats. :)

It's a 1964. Use outboard 2-stroke oil, I'm not sure if it'll be 24:1 or 50:1. Parts manual and factory service manual are available at kencook.com, aftermarket service manuals are available above.
