Unhappy Problem with rivets coming out in G3 fishing boats

We have a 2001 G3 fishing boat and we started taking on water recently and took the boat home and found 2 rivets had come out and there are more coming out. Of course I called the warranty line and we have a 5 year warranty on the boat and it expired 9/2006. Was wondering if anyone had had similar problems with the rivets or if anyone has heard of a re-call. Thank you. Jim

No, but you can use a ball peen hammer and a bucking bar (heavy pc of steel) and re-tighten the loose ones. Have someone hold the bucking bar on the head of the rivet while you peen down the shop end. Get new rivets and drive your own the same way starting to cut the rivet to the right length. If you want to go all the way, get a pneumatic rivet gun, set and bucking bar. It is not that hard and with the vibration and bumping of the water, you will undoubtedly need that knowledge in the future. If you are not sure of how to use a rivet you can go to any airport shop or maybe even find out online. Best of luck to you.

You can replace/repair them as mentioned above. To get a 100% water tight seal, coat the inside rivet heads with Gluv It. They will never leak again.

Gluv It is available at most marine stores and I believe here on iboats.

Yup, it's available here. See link.
