medium console skiff

I have a 16 Carolina skiff (center console) i know that the placement of the benches, boxes and consoles will effect the balance and the ride of the boat. How do I figure the correct location for the placement of the console? #1)the console i currently have in the boat is home made of wood it looks good but the thing has to weigh at least??60 lbs??and origanaly i thought of just moving this console.because it sits to far forward,and it leaves not even enough room for a cooler between the console and the front deck.but after much thought and some price comparison,im thinking of buyin a new carolina skiff ,slick console,(about the same measurments)that cant weigh but 20 or 30 at the most!.....anyway doing this should remove the weight and it should matter less as to were the lighter console goes????if any one understands me on this ill take as may peoples advise as possible.....thnks

look into Todd consoles, they make quite a few sizes from very small to large.
