Default Bayliner Volvo Penta

1985 Bayliner Ciera 255D (Volvo Penta 5.0 GM engine rplaced with GM V8 5.7) 24 ft Cruiser Volvo Penta Outdrive .... at top of Transom Housing is a Trapezium Shaped plate held in place by two hex bolts either side and pretty much rusted through completely - can anyone please identify what this is and its function? Looks like it might be almost 'welded' and prob difficult to replace. Cant find it in the Service/Repair Manual. Any assistance would be appreciated...... bertb911

It's the rubber bumper stop for the outdrive when lifted. What you have left is the plate. It appears the rubber took a hike long ago. Your drive is probably a VP 270 or 280.
