Evinrude 1967 Alternator/stator 60 hp sport four model 60733

My Evinrude 1967 Alternator Is Show That Grounded IT IS On One Of The Two Yellow Wires OTHER NO READING AND BOTH WIRES NO READING.

I Just Read A Article By Joe Reeves , About The Diodes KillING Tachs IF THEY ARE BAD.
The Diode Tested Good , I Want To Install Tach From The Neg And The Coil.

Will The Grounded Alternator Effect My Tach (kill It) ? Or Should I Be Ok?

Also , How Dose The Alternator Ground Out Like That, I Thought They Are All Sealed Up Not Exposed To Metal Of Powerhead To Ground Out?

Can alt be fixed?

Did you disconnect both wires it when you tested? Yellow leads should read less than 1 ohm and no reading to ground on either one.

Sounds like it's time for a new stator. Thats exactly how the one on my motor tested, grounded on one yellow wire, nothing between them. Tach didn't work, stator was the cause, didn't hurt the tach. Replaced the melted stator and everything works fine.
