Can't find my 15 hp Evinrudes model/serial for repairs

Can anyone help me find the serial number or model number of my 15 hp evinrude outboard. It is an older motor on the back of a boat passed down to me. The throttle arm has been broken off and I would like to repair it. I don't know much about these motors and the plate that has the model and serial number on it is faded so I can't see any letters or numbers! HELP!

how "old" is old to you? Let's narrow it down to a generation or two. Does it have a fiberglass hood or a metal one that flips up on one side?

One thing that you might want to try is this. With a good quality camera take a close up picture of the plate. I am always surprized at the detail you can obtain in a picture. You might just see enough to decifer the model number this way. Rick.
