The RDSL-27M motor seems to run excellent. I just had the lower unit professionally rebuilt. My water discharge is a mixture of heavy droplets, fine mist and steam. I was told that there should be a steady stream of water pouring out. Should this model "pour" or "spray" my hot-water discharge (I've never seen one run)?

You are talking at idle or WOT, test setup or on the lake.
To see a stream of water you have to be at WOT and on the lake .

the 69 did not have the pee stream indicator, like the newer ones, if you are getting the mist and droplets, out the exhaust relief in the mid section, you are fine. a pee stream indicator can be added to that motor, requires some drilling and tapping, in the correct place.

Your motor is not supposed to pee like a cow. It is supposed to blow a water spray at any time the motor is running. When it is completely warmed up and the thermostat is open, it will blow out considerably more. The thermostat cycles open and closed as required to maintain proper temperature, so spray is always changing according to prevai ling conditions.
