I am trying to find a "regular" spark plug for my 1990 Force 120. I am not really convinced that the surface fire plugs are the best. Please help.

i have the same motor as you and i feel the same about the plugs. i just assumed there is no room for the regular type plugs when the your at tdc. i may be wrong but the seloc book says those are the plugs for most force motors other than small hp.

While there is clearance for regular bent electrode plugs, surface gap plugs are dead cold--both UL18V and L20V. I have seen the QL77 Evinrude plugs in Force engines--engines I have rebuilt for people. They are less prone to foul at idle speeds than surface gap plugs, but personally, I think you are begging for a melted piston or two by using "regular" plugs. One 120 I rebuilt had three surface gap plugs and one traditional plug. Guess which piston had melted. Right!
