Merc 110 9.8p water problem

Hello
I have a mercury 9.8hp, 110. i have change the impella which is working and turning but no water out the tell tail, if i blow down it when the gearbox is off the air is traving down the shaft and not the copper pipe leading to the impella pump?

Any ideas

It sounds like a common problem eithe you have pieces of impeller plug ithe water passages in the powerhead or the plastic grommet on the top of the water tube has melted shut, the fix is somewhat the same remove the powerhead and ck the grommet, then remove the exhaust water jacket plates and if it is not there you wll have to remove the water jacket cover from the from of the cyls. and clean the hole between the exhaust water jacket and the cyls. water jacket

Do i have to take the whole pwerhead off or can i get at it thru the plate on the side by the tell tail

I have done it both ways, if you take the plate off it usaully the other place so when asked I just figure on doing both. The powerhead is the easy part, just remove th4 6 nuts holding the p/head on, disconnect, the fuel at the carb, pulse line to the f/pump, the spark advance link at the arm and wire to the kill switch, then lift it off. Takes me longer to type this than you to take it off

hi
I tryed it and it was glued up a bit, after i put it back to gether still no water.when i removed the plates again they was bone dry but the pipe was clear,could it be the pipe which conects to the impeller housing, it goes down the tube and in the holebut cant check it,does it need to be tight?
when i blow down the tell tail pipe it still cant feel it on that iner pipe

i am at my wits end with it

If it's still apart use an electric drill the turn the shaft an make sure the pump is working, I made a adapter using a 3/8" drive allen wrench which I chuck in the drill a short piece of hose and a couple of hose to hold it and then turn with a 3/8 drill if it pumps you have a leak on the pickup pipe to the pump or a stopage in the engine

hi
got it apart.done the drill bit and the pump pumped,no leak on the tube in the frame,i have cleaned it al up, do you think it could the gaskets are shot?the power head gasket and the exahust ones now that i have removed them. where can i get new ones ,i am in uk

I hate to say this but a lealing gasket would still give you water at the telltale so I think you still have a piece of trash in the water jacket, which means taking it apart again. carefully tracing the water flow into the bottom of the powerhead into the exhaust waterjacket and back into the block there has to be a blockage some where. Remember you are not the first confronted with this problem. As far as the gaskets, I am not sure in the UK but here the may be purchased at a Mercury dealer, a sierra dealer and heres a link that mite ship overseas http://www.mercruiserparts.com/

Hello me again
now, i got it all apart made sure the pipe went fully into the pump housing,(dont think it did before) got water comming up the pipe and coming out the head by the exsaute where it goes in to the water jacket,when i put the water jacket back on it still wont come out the tell tail, the gaskets on the jacket and plate are shot, i am going to order new ones,could this by why the water cant find its way out the tell tail? the gaskets?
