Can clutch dogs be fixed?

It seem to me that if you look at em closely that the rounded parts could be ground flat again. Has anyone ever tried this? I have not. Is it possible at all or just a bad idea? :)

It has been tried and works for a short while. Trouble is, the dog and gears are only hard on the outside "skin". Wear or grind away the surface and they are relatively soft.

What's a bad idea is the people that grind them only to unload the motor on some unsuspecting soul.

Exactly what we've found. The depth of the hardness varies greatly. The other thing is to jig them up so they're cut symmetrical. We've seen some cut just so each lug cleans up regardless of how far. That really didn't last.
