merc 9.9 two stoke,rough idleand poping

Last summer I had my stator plate blow.I had it replaced and now if trolling I
get a soft poping noise and the idle drops and sometimes stalles.
I had carbs cleaned, new high test gas and new plugs.
any body got any suggestions.

Chris,, normally if a engine backfires at idle and runs alright at higher speeds it's a lean condition, idle mixture, low float level or dirt. It is possable for the ign. to cause a problem due to low voltage at idle, plug, coil or coil wire, stator not producing enough volatage for the system to function right and last but not least a rectifier switch in the switch box sticking. However a switch box problem will also act up at higher RPM
