Default Mariner starved for gas at increased throttle

I have a mariner 1984 40EL. When I start the engine it idles fine, if I increase the throttle it will run and starve run and starve run and starve. It wont actually stall but just continues to do that with the increased throttle.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I you want to troubleshoot your fuel supply system using a vacuum gauge, take a look at the below linked Mercury Service Advisory.
