I was taking parts off my parts motor and found the points were open really wide. After looking closer I found a piece of the engine block had broken off and was jammed between the cam and the points. How could that happen?
Uh-huh, somebody cracked it while prying around in there trying to replace the crankshaft seal without the special tool to get it out. Not the first time it's happened, and won't be the last.
Thanks, good point. I may have to do the seal on my working motor. What's the seal removal tool worth? I've taken crank seals out of lawnmower engines by using a hook tool to puncture the seal, grab the ring and pull it out. I take it this seal is more difficult to remove.
