Red face 1999 hoosier pontoon trailer needs new wood rails

Ok, not rocket science to replace them I know, but I'm not able to find any 18' 2 x 4, has anyone here had this issue before and how did you over come it? I'm thinking of routing out a small indent to put a piece of aluminum to butt them together on both sides of the 2 x 4's.

You need a support at the 9' mark or thereabouts. Most toon trailers have a center support bracket (Or several more) and each bunk is comprised of 2 boards to go the distance...

Mine has 4 brackets on my 20'er...

Lowe's & Home Depot probably won't have anything longer than 16' go to a dedicated lumber yard and you should have no problems finding an 18' or 20' board.

I do recommend that you buy a pressure treated 2x8 and rip it down the center using a table saw. You'll end up with a MUCH nicer piece of lumber, 2x4's are notorious for being cut out of the tops young timber. If it's that long and narrow it will be full of knots and twist like crazy when it dries out (if it's not already twisted before you buy it!)
