Seating

Does anyone know if you are allowed to seat people on the floor of a boat? I have a 19 ft. caravelle cuddy that says it can hold up to 8 people, however there are only five seats. We are bringing some friends on in a few weeks (6 total) and do not know if it is "against the law"...

Rating is usually a weight/space rating. Never ever heard of anyone not having enough seats for their rating!

Here in ky the regulation manual says no one can sit 6" above rail while boat is underway. But that doesn't meen you can put as many people as you can fit into the boat. You need to go by the plate on your boat for maxium people and weight. Actually considering some people are fat boys like me you should go by the weight.
