Exhaust and water noise

Hi,

I have a 1999 Mercruiser 5.7 inboard outboard with an Bravo III out drive. I recently heard some strange noise when in the water. I took it out of the water and started using a water hose connection. Water and exhaust are coming out of two little finger size holes under where the drive goes through the transom. Is this normal or is something stopped up. I have checked the bellows for leaks but it looks good. I would expect the exhaust and water to come out of the prop. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Do I have a busted Y exhaust?

Nope,....... Those are the Idle Relief Holes......

Once on plane,.... The majority of the exhaust exits the Prop........

Re: Exhaust and water noise

Thanks for your reply. Does this mean if I take the boat out of idle it will send water and exhaust out the prop? The noise I heard seem to be louder as I turned, especially one way (I believe right). I am guessing that it is the ujoint from all the other posts.

Thanks for your advice

Check the exhaust bellows. It may be damaged or may have come loose.
