Hi,

New to the forum!

Just purchased a Johnson Evinrude 1971 125 and are having a few problems.

There is no excelleration from the control stick. The engine runs smooth after a few adjustments and new plugs. Did cut out occasionally but we seem to have it starting on the first turn of the key now.

But we have lost the ability to accellerate. When the control lever is pushed forward there is nothing than a tick over idle speed of about 5 knots max. If the stick is jiggled it occasionally pickes up slightly. We took the control stick apart, but nothing obviously broken.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks:confused:

when you move the control, is it moving the linkage on the motor. could be broken cable, or the cable is disconnected. or linkage.
