Just purchased a 1980 26' Searay Sundancer which had a wood carpet covered hatch. I want to build a new one and here is what I had planned on building with: 3/4 " marine plywood, covering it with either fiberglass, polyurethane, vinyl cover, or maine paint. Have a metal frame build to fit the hatch cover lip on the boat floor to fit on the bottom of new hatch cover for a tight fit. Please help me do it the right way.

Re: Help building a new engine cover

i built an aluminum frame, and screwed 3/8 ply to it, then padded and covered. made a great dog house for my boat, and light enough to move.
