Hi everyone, i am new to this forum and i come with a question. I have a 1996 Evinrude Ocean Pro 175 that has a problem that i think may be linked to the carbs. when i launch the boat it starts right up, i'm cruising out of the channel at almost idle speed and it shuts off, but then it starts right up again. as long as i keep it at about 4 or 5 knots it will stay on and cruise fine. now, the boat runs great when its on, hauls butt too, problem is that when i shut it off after being ran for a while, it shuts off when i put it in drive again to leave, but it will start again if i try. the only way i can get it to go is if i accelerate in neutral and quickly throw it into drive, same thing happens for reverse.
why would this only happen only in the water and only when i try to go foward or back? it never does this when i clean the motor at home out of the water.
