8 HP 1987 Evinrude won't idle

Have a motor I use for trolling. Been in shop twice now but it still won't idle when it warms up. Constantly starting it.. Looking for Ideas thinking of rebuilding the carburetor.

What are the symptoms right before it dies?

Does pumping the bulb keep it going?

Okay, well that rules out the fuel pump pretty well. Your next step is to test spark and compression. Try and rule out a worn out motor or ignition problems.

I can do that, I have a book due in any day now and will get the spec on what compression should be and i have a compression tester. I'll round up an in line spark tester, wouldn't be a project worth doing if there isn't a new tool to buy..
