water problem

have a invader 1988 2.5L ,when motor is running I have water coming in the boat .The water is coming out of the left bottom side of motor were the starter connects to the housing any ideas on problem and how to fix

the motor is a 2.5L mercruiser 4cil

well first you need to find out exactly where the water is coming from, with what you said I would ckeck out the freeze plug, is it a closed water system? can you hook it up to muffs and run it and look where the leak is?

thanks for the reply answer your ? it is a closed water system and put muffs on ,the water comes out right behind the starter?
