Hey guys, I'm new here and would like some help with my '96 alpha 1. I am replacing the gimble bearing but can't get the old one out. After looking at my Selco book, it says something about a snapring. Is there a snapring that has to come out before I use a puller to remove the bearing. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Re: alpha 1 gimble bearing stuck

there is no snap ring on a 96

You will need to use the puller there pressed into a SS tolarance ring for a tight fit

The most inportant thing is the correct driver so you do not damage the new bearing

Thanks Tommays, the slidehammer I used wouldn't do it, am I not hitting it hard enough or is there another trick?

Re: alpha 1 gimble bearing stuck

i use a threaded rod and plates with a hole to setup a puller useing the hammer head

This gives a lot more force than the wack
