Welcome to iboats!

You might be running on only one cylinder. Run motor on lake or test tank. Pull one plug wire (use insulated pliers). Does motor rpm change? If rpm's change, that plug is hitting. Replace that plug wire. Do this test with the other plug wire too. If either removed plug wire has no affect on motor rpm's , thats the dead cylinder. Pull flywheel and inspect coils for any cracks, replace them if they do. It would be a good idea to get some compression readings too

check your compression and spark, also make sure the linkage under the flywheel and carb are moving freely, and not getting caught on something. i had that problem, on my 35, it ended up being the neutral stop (lever that goes up under the flywheel) was not moving completely out of the way to advance the timing plate.
