my boat idle fine some time but when i put it in gear it stalls and when i do get it going and i have it a full speed it does not seem to want to go fast at all like a little faster then idle speed. it's a 3 Cyclider 90 hp Yamaha 1985 motor on a 17 inch hual. changed the plug and oil thats all i have done when i bought the boat it was sitting they sad the changed the stator and the propeler. what can it be?

sounds like your carb(s) are dirty ,could have water in your gas ,do you have a water seperator,if yes check,if not,likely carbs and get a seperator installed

i have a 17 gallon gas tank build onto the boat and when i bought it i drain one of the carb balls and there was water in it so i took off the water seporater and it was half gas and half water so i bought a portable 6 gallon gas tank and carb cleaner but atleast it runs now but stalls and have no speed.when i go to put it in gear i have to have the chock half out so it wont stall the when i get it going i push the chock in all the way. what should i do plus i would like to use the build in gas tank??????????????? thank alot for the knowledge

i was told also that there are three spark plug and when i remove the top on while running it stay on put it back and then remove the bottom on same thing put it back and remove the the middle plug it shuts off i check for a spark and there is a spark on all the plugs but why is it shutting off like if its running on one plug ??????????????

Do you have oil in the oil pump tank? If so, what type of oil is it?

when water and modern gasoline mix you can get a very gummy mess that clogs the jets. you may have to disassemble the carbs and clean the jets.

some carb cleaners are said to damage the plastic parts of some carbs.
