Default What is this black plastic material on the center console?

I'd like to rebuild my center dash like the one in the picture attached. what is and where can i find that black plastic material they use? I've seen it used on the boat repair show but don't remember the name?

Thanks for the help.

I can't exactly tell from the angle you posted, but it might be a synthetic cutting board like material.. I forget the trade name. Sea board?

Main reason I post this though, is to suggest that you replace the black stuff with a piece of aluminum sheet... it's a bit harder to work, but it would look really sharp

I aggree that aluminum would look better but worried about oxidation in the salt water enviroment? i will check out both options.

You could just use a piece of lexan or plexiglass and paint the back side black.

I used King Starboard when I did my installation. Not sure if Seaboard is the same stuff or not.

The last thing I would use is an aluminum panel on a SW boat. Aluminum oxides and pits rather easily in that enviroment. It's hard enough trying to keep my hardtop looking decent let alone a control panel
