I recenlty changed the water pump, spark plugs, and changed out the gear oil. When I was working on the boat I could turn it over on the first crank out of the water. I turned it off and on 5 times all with no problems. Now the ODD thing.

As soon as I drop the boat in the water submerged completly the engine wont turn over. I dont get it..

Maybe the starter is dying, how often shoudl this be replaced? It doesnt turn that fast like its struggling to turn the flywheel.

Curious what your thoughts are here? Thanks

When you were starting it out of water did you have water muffs attached? If not your new impeller is probably fried. Only takes a couple of seconds running an impeller dry to kill it. From what you described is motor will turn and start out of water but will not start in the water. Check for good spark on each cylinder and do a compression test. A motor will sound fine when not firing on one cylinder out of the water. When you put it in the water a load is created and it will not idle when in the water.
