Steering cable help PLEASE

I'm back with another question, I put 85HP Johnson on my 1986 Skeeter bass boat, I did not put the steering cable in yet, should I have put the cable in before I mounted the motor or can someone tell me how to get the cable in?

If you can't get the right angle or enough room then yes you will have to take the motor off. Some boat setups require the cable in first some don't.

Thank you Walker, it looks like I'll be pulling the motor, I was kind of hoping I could just undo the steering from the steering wheel.
