Non-regulated engine problem

Hello,

I have a '97 Envrude 95hp, which, I am told, is a non-regulated engine. I have my fish finder connected directly to the battery, but I am apparently still getting too much juice at high rpms, and my fishfinder keeps blowing. Other than connecting my fishfinder to its own battery, any idea how to fix this?

Thanks much.
