I recently purchased a boat with a 1995 Mariner 150 Mag III. The horn on the boat does not sound when the key is turned on so I'm not sure if the oil injection is working. I do not want to burn up the motor. How can I disconnect the oil injection so that I can run premix to be on the safe side? Please help.
Thanks.

Re: Disconnect Oil Injection on Mariner 150

Why throw out the baby with the bath water? It's easy enough to test it. Find a tan wire with a blue stripe on the head. That's the overheat sensor. It sounds the same alarm that the oil warning system does. Put a straightened paperclip in the connector and touch it to ground. If the alarm sounds, it's fine. If not, replace the alarm. You wouldn't remove the water pump for fear that the alarm might not sound if it failed, would you?

Far more motors fail from premix goofs than failed oil pumps! I'd bet 100+ to 1.

If the injection works now, keep it and fix the warning.
