I have a 1987 60hp Mercury, yesterday the tilt and trim started making a heck of a noise when lowering the engine, no strange noise when raising the engine. The side with the piston seems to be vibrating when the noise occurs, which is most of the time now, but not always.. Any suggestions?

Check the little balls in the end of the trim rods. I have had them get corroded and squeek as they try to turn. Happens when trimming down. They are supposed to roll and if they get stuck they scuff on the houseing.
