Changing H20 Pump 1973 Johnson

so I have the new kit , and taken the lower end off .

the inpeller on the new kit is smaller , and the housing is plastick

I have read this is the update

so my ??? is

there is a metal housing in the kit that fits into the plastic housing . I asume I need to use it in all applications???

Will this smaller impeller pump enough ??

DO I gut the gasket on the housing dry???

What is the best way to clean the surface under the flat plate of the water pump

(Me) - Yes, that's called an impeller cup.

(You) - Will this smaller impeller pump enough ?

Me - Yes, the updated pump is an improvement.

(You) - Do I gut the gasket on the housing dry?

(Me) - No, use gasket sealer.

(You) - What is the best way to clean the surface under the flat plate of the water pump?

(Me) - Carefully scrape it clean with a scraper that resembles a putty knife which is usually about 1-1/4" wide.

(You) - See I dont need a manual

(Me) - Hmmmm, and just where do we send this bill?

A service manual will have a tendency to eliminate expensive errors.
