1988 Johnson VRO 50hp

I have a Johnson 50 hp VRO motor. When running the motor is full throttle it is barely running. When I press the electric choke the engine runs perfect. I need to keep the choke pressed in to keep the motor running good. I have cleaned the jets on the carbs with no improvement. Any ideas what else I should try? I have also put new spark plugs in it!

You should try the Johnson & Evinrude Outboard Troubles Forum. This is for electrical troubles, not engine troubles.

I have a 89 Johnson VRO in 60hp just bought it and I took it out today and had the same problem. Mine seems to be running really rich it smoked alot. Still trying to figure it out.
