I have 1993 150hp faststrike that recently had the power unit replaced. I now get an alarm from the motor that is not described in my owners manual. the alarm tone is long and consistent followed by a brief pause then a long consistent tone again.I made sure the oil tank is full, inspected the fuel filter on the motor and replaced the fuel/water seperator on the boat.Still does it. I only get the alarm at idle or slow speed after 3-5 minutes and I can rev the motor briefly or speed up and it goes away, but will come back if I idle or go slow again.I was told to try and sqeeze the primer bulb when I get the alarm and see if goes away(if it does it might be a fuel restriction) but that did not help it was also suggested it coud be a problem with an anti shiphon valve in the fuel tank??Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd start disconnecting the alarm cirsuit wires one at a time until I found which one cuts the alarm off. Then start trouble shooting that system.

What is a "power unit"? The powerhead? Or a power pack? What work was done?

Did you replace the water pump? - thinking you got a cooling issue rather than a fuel issue.

Re: 1993 johson 150 faststrike

I had replaced it about 8 years ago and I remember being surprised that it was not all chewed up, but seemed in good shape. my water pressure is around 5 lbs at idle and goes to around 20 on plane, and the **** tell seems ok. I did cmpare water pressure with a similiar motor and it also had around the same. Not saying that these readings are good? Do these readings seem ok?
