Default Mercury 125 EXLPTO Power Loss

Need some help.
Motor was running find on local lake 35-38MPH, Tach not working (RPM ?), all other gages OK. After running aboult 15 min., motor slows down to 15MPH at full throtle. Can not get back up to speed. Starts up very easy and idles a little rough. At hole shot, motor seems to want to increase but cuts out quickly.

Changed plugs and fuel filter, no change. Found plugs #3 & #4 cylinders cleaned compared to #1 & #2 (dark brown). Checked for spark, all Cylinders have spark (nice blue). Switch Modules around and problem stays on #3 & #4cylinders. Charging system works find, 12.2 VDC with ignition on, 14.1 VDC running.

Sprayed starting fluid in #3 & #4 carbs, motor increases speed and engine sounds better until burn thur. Sprayed in #1 & #@ carbs, motor wants to stall. Check all fuel lines, OK. However, fuel blub seems a little soft when running. Fuel in all bowls and clean, all jets clean.

Data for www.outboardparts.com states

Stator OHMS 600-700, measured 682.
Trigger 800-1400 OHMS, measured 1271 to 1850 (not sure this is correct)

Seems like a fuel system problem or possible electrical.

Any info. is appreciated.

Bob

Default Re: Mercury 125 EXLPTO Power Loss

Hey, my 90hp 2 stroke did the same thing. Only I have individual coils for each spark plug and found that the #3 coil went out and so did my switchbox. Good Luck!
