1987 omc 3.0l

Help!! what goes in the upper unit port side (plug ?)? It is dirrectly opposite the cobra decal. The Manuals show cobra decals on both sides. Need help

There is a stainless steel plate inside the drive. It's there to keep water from erroding the aluminum housing away. When you remove the screw, the plate falls down inside the water passage. You will have to remove the drive roll it around till you get the plate back in place and screwed down. Use some red loctite to prevent the screw from being removed again.

Ya, DON'T remove that so called screw. As Don mentions you'll have to pull the drive to replace the backing plate.

Most Cobra drives you you see will only have the Cobra emblem on 1 side. No idea why. I have seen somewhere that you can get the replacement emblems but don't remember where. I'd like to get one for mine.
