OMC 2.3 to 4.3

I have a 1988 VIP with a 2.3 4 cylinder i want to put a 4.3 6 cylinder in it will my cobra dive bolt up to this motor? the motor i found is a 1986, is the gearing different? I'm getting the exhaust manifold and the power steering with the new used motor but the lower unit is bad the lower unit i have now is good they look the same the question is will it work. Love the boat i have just want more power. Any suggestion will be helpful Dan

Did this conversion on my Vision. No the 2.3L drive is completely different than the 4.3L. Housings are different on the lower unit. Gearing is all wrong also. Besides , the power of the 4.3 will eat up the 2.3L drive.
It is however a very simple install. Motor mount holes are exactly in the same location for both engines. Better make sure you get the wiring harness for the 4.3L also.
My 1700 runs like a striped ape now!!
