I had a problem with the pinon gear shaft on my electric start that was banging into the flywheel during the starting sequence. This forum fixed that problem(Thanks) But know I have a problem understanding how the electric-thermal choke works on this engine. It wont start from cold unless I restrict the air intake on the carb, then it will start and run fine. I suspect the electric-thermal coke solanoid on top of the carb, as the dealer stated they change a lot of them. I tested it and it appeared to not move at all when 12v was applied. I bought a new one (70.00) and retested the old one and it NOW moves as does the new one. It appears that when cold the needle is retracted and it opens the cold start circuit and as the electric-thermal solanoid heats up the needle extends and shuts off the cold start circuit. Is this the way the automatiac choke works????
Thanks again for all this forum help.
