.... I do have a repair manual and Im going religiously by it, but I cant pull the oil pump out of the back of the lower end .... should be the last piece but it wont just slide out like the book says .... why would it be stuck ? tried a slide hammer even and nothing .... yes the c -clip is out and the screen came out , the plunger came out .... just the oil pump ... does the bottom of the solunoid compartment open into the oil pump area? maybe something didnt come out of the solunoid assembly and is jammed?I dont know if these two compartments connect ... What ever the bottom of the solunoid "clips" onto is still inside there .... it doesnt move and i dont know if it is supposed to???
Its like a nipple it attaches on to down there.... any ideas?
Re: 69 evinrude lower end dissasembly /hydro-electric
You need TWO slide hammer sets to pull the pump out straight. If only one is used, the pump body is cocked in the housing and jammed. If there were metal chips in the oil, sometimes those will jam the pump and make things difficult.
Re: 69 evinrude lower end dissasembly /hydro-electric
sorry i thought i put the motor info in the title ... its a 1969 55hp evinrude ... and yes the slide hammer is a double puller ... anything else? is it possible something is jammed from the solunoid housing? Im curious if that "nipple" was supposed to come out with the actuator rod .. ?
Re: 69 evinrude lower end dissasembly /hydro-electric
The solenoids and pump were different in later models. Frankly, I am having trouble remembering the early ones. But just something we might keep in mind as we give advice on this.
