Default 1985 50 HP Evinrude stalling

Ok, I'm back again. Here's the problem: Got the boat in the water and the motor would not idle when I put the warm up lever down. I adusted the throttle cable with the trunion nut. I was able to get the motor to idle by doing this. I left from the dock, and would run pretty good at slow speeds, once I reached a certain point with giving it throttle, it would stall out. Also when trying to restart it was a little finicky, I had to keep working the warm up lever. I had it in to a mechanic a couple of weeks ago for the idling problem before I realized I could get it to idle by making an adjustment. He said he ran a "cocktail" through the carbs to clean them out. He also said the motor has good compression. An advice would be appreciated!

Cocktail thru the carbs is a waste of time more often then not. There is nothing like a good carb cleaning which requires disassembly and doing it right. Could also be a fuel delivery problem.
