I have a '68 Johnson MQ-14D and it has been in storage for about 3 years...It has been suggested that I change the waterpump Impeller...Is this a DIY repair? I know little to nothing about about outboards?

Any help would be appreciated

The 9.5 is a fairly easy one to change. Four bolts and disconnect the coupler by removing the screw will get you to the pump. If everything is in reasonably good shape, you should be looking at about 1/2 hour. When you remove the 4 bolts facing upward, open the unit enough to find the shift rod coupler.

If you have some mechanical know how its pretty simple. Hardest part is usually getting the lower to drop and getting shift rod disconnected. Make sure you have all bolts removed and check under the trim tab.
